The Laffa apps

Two Android apps: one for passengers and one for captains. Both work in Arabic and English, share the same mobile-number account and the same safety tools.

Laffa Passenger

Request a TukTuk at a clear fare before you confirm.

Set your pickup and destination, choose Laffa Now or name your price with Laffa Offer, and follow your ride live with a trip PIN and an SOS button.

Laffa Captain

Work when it suits you, with every piaster of your earnings recorded.

Sign up and upload your documents once, go online when you like, accept trips or counter-offer, and follow your earnings and wallet from the app.

Permissions each app asks for, and why

We ask only for what the service needs, and explain each permission in the app before requesting it. You can refuse any permission; only the related feature stops working.

Laffa Passenger

  • Location (while using the app): to show nearby TukTuks, set the pickup point and follow the trip.
  • Notifications: to alert you about trip status and the captain arriving.

Laffa Captain

  • Location — including in the background: only while you are Online or On a trip, to send your position to passengers and for matching even when the app is minimised or the screen is off. A persistent notification is shown the whole time, and sharing stops completely when you tap Offline.
  • Camera: to photograph verification documents and the TukTuk during sign-up.
  • Notifications: for trip requests, the verification outcome and wallet alerts.
